Ukrainian translation services Diskusija offers

Ukraine is one of the largest countries in Europe by population and one of the most consequential EU accession candidates of this generation. Granted EU candidate status in June 2022, the country is undertaking a deep and accelerating programme of legislative and regulatory alignment with EU standards — creating a sustained, large-scale demand for accurate translation across legal, compliance and institutional content. Alongside this, Ukraine has one of the largest IT sectors in Europe, a major agricultural export economy and a significant industrial base. Ukrainian language legislation also requires that public-facing business communication, product labelling and services in Ukraine are provided in Ukrainian — making professional Ukrainian translation essential for any company operating in the market.

Diskusija provides professional Ukrainian translation services across all major sectors and content types. Every project is handled by native Ukrainian translators with verified expertise in their field, and managed by a dedicated project manager who takes full responsibility from your initial requirements through to final delivery.

Ukrainian language services we provide:

  • Ukrainian translation and proofreading — translation into and from Ukrainian across IT, legal, manufacturing, life sciences, financial and other sectors, with independent proofreading as a separate quality stage on every project, in line with ISO 17100.
  • Localization into Ukrainian — adaptation of websites, software, apps and digital products for the Ukrainian market, covering UI adjustments, local conventions and the requirements of Ukrainian language legislation.
  • Transcreation — adaptation of campaigns, brand messaging and creative content for a Ukrainian audience, rebuilding the message to carry the same commercial and emotional resonance as the original.
  • Copywriting in Ukrainian — original content written in Ukrainian by native writers for websites, campaigns, product pages and editorial material — content created to speak directly to a Ukrainian audience.
  • Ukrainian interpreting — consecutive and simultaneous interpreting for business meetings, institutional events, investment conferences, legal proceedings and diplomatic settings, delivered by Ukrainian interpreters with relevant sector experience.
  • AI/MT Ukrainian translation with post-editing — AI translation tools generate the initial output, a native Ukrainian linguist then post-edits every segment — checking accuracy, applying agreed terminology and refining register to meet the standard of fully human translation. Suitable for large-scale regulatory, technical and institutional content — certified to ISO 18587.

Do you have a Ukrainian project?

Let’s talk about it

Ukrainian translation across industries

Ukraine's economy is large, diversified and in the process of deep structural change — with EU integration driving new regulatory requirements across every sector. The translation needs generated by this environment are substantial and varied. Our Ukrainian translators are assigned to every project by content domain, ensuring that each deliverable benefits from genuine sector knowledge alongside native linguistic command.

  • IT and software Ukrainian translation

Ukraine has one of the largest IT sectors in Europe, with hundreds of thousands of IT professionals and a well-established reputation in software development, outsourcing and digital services. Ukrainian IT companies build products for export that require localization into target-market languages, while international platforms operating in Ukraine need Ukrainian-language versions that comply with Ukrainian language legislation and work naturally for local users. We localize software interfaces, web and mobile applications, SaaS products, e-learning platforms, help documentation and developer content — handling both directions with equal rigour.

  • Legal and compliance Ukrainian translation

Ukraine's EU accession process is generating one of the largest bodies of legislative and regulatory alignment work in Europe. The transposition of EU directives, the adoption of EU-compatible regulatory frameworks and the institutional reforms required for accession all produce a substantial and continuous flow of legal content that requires accurate Ukrainian translation. Beyond accession, Ukraine's own legal and regulatory framework generates ongoing translation needs across contracts, corporate governance documents, regulatory filings, court materials, compliance policies and data protection documentation. Our Ukrainian legal translators bring the terminological precision and formal register that legal content in Ukrainian demands.

  • Technical and manufacturing Ukrainian translation

Ukraine's industrial base includes metallurgy, chemicals, machinery and food processing — sectors that continue to serve both domestic and export markets. Technical documentation across these industries is terminology-intensive and subject to evolving regulatory standards as the country aligns with EU product requirements. We translate product manuals, engineering specifications, safety data sheets, certification documentation, maintenance procedures and quality management materials — ensuring every Ukrainian-language document meets the required standards.

  • Life sciences Ukrainian translation

Ukraine's pharmaceutical and healthcare sector serves a large domestic market and is undergoing regulatory reform as part of the EU alignment process. Pharmaceutical labelling, patient information leaflets, summaries of product characteristics, clinical trial documentation, medical device manuals and regulatory submissions all require accurate Ukrainian translation — handled by translators with the specialist knowledge and regulatory awareness these materials demand.

  • Financial and fintech Ukrainian translation

Ukraine's banking sector has maintained resilience through a period of extraordinary disruption, and the financial services landscape includes domestic and international institutions alongside a growing fintech segment. Financial translation covers terms and conditions, regulatory disclosures, investment documentation, audit reports, shareholder information and user-facing content for digital banking and payment products. Our Ukrainian financial translators bring the sector knowledge and precision these materials require.

  • Marketing and brand content in Ukrainian

Ukraine is one of the largest consumer markets in Europe, and Ukrainian language legislation means that content reaching consumers must be provided in Ukrainian. Our native Ukrainian marketing linguists will work with you to identify the right approach: translation for content that carries across naturally, transcreation where a campaign or concept needs reshaping for the market, and original Ukrainian copywriting where the content should be built from scratch.

How we deliver Ukrainian translation

Every Ukrainian translation project at Diskusija is delivered by native Ukrainian linguists and managed through a quality process that keeps consistency, accuracy and deadlines under control — regardless of volume, content type or complexity.

  • Your dedicated project manager

Your project manager is your primary contact from start to finish. They begin by analysing your requirements — the content type, the audience, the purpose and the timeline — then assemble the right team, prepare terminology resources and establish the workflow before any translation begins. Throughout the project they coordinate, track and handle queries — involving you only where your input is genuinely needed. Diskusija's project management is certified to ISO 9001: a commitment to client satisfaction, continuous improvement and proactive risk management.

  • Native Ukrainian translators with sector expertise

Each Ukrainian project is assigned to a native speaker with professional expertise in the relevant content area. IT localization goes to a technology specialist, legal content to a legal linguist, life sciences material to a translator with the relevant regulatory knowledge. Native Ukrainian command and sector expertise are both requirements — accuracy depends on both.

  • Translation memory: consistency across every deliverable

On every Ukrainian project we create and maintain a translation memory that captures each translated segment. Wherever matching or similar content appears — in the same project or in future work — it is identified and applied automatically. Your Ukrainian content stays consistent across all documents, and as the translation memory expands, repeating content is reused — progressively reducing cost and delivery time on new projects.

  • Terminology management

Your products, processes and institutional language need to appear consistently in every Ukrainian document you publish. For larger and continuous projects, we build a dedicated Ukrainian glossary with you before work begins — agreeing each term, validating it with your team and applying it at every stage of translation and review. The glossary is maintained and updated as your Ukrainian content evolves.

  • AI/MT translation with post-editing

For Ukrainian projects with large content volumes — regulatory documentation, software localization files or institutional material — we offer AI/MT translation with native post-editing. AI tools produce the initial output; a native Ukrainian linguist then reviews every segment, applying your glossary, correcting errors and bringing the result to the full standard of human translation. Certified to ISO 18587.

  • Multi-layer quality assurance

Every Ukrainian project passes through a structured quality process before delivery: translation by a sector-matched native linguist, independent editing and proofreading as separate stages, automated QA checks for terminology, formatting and consistency, and a final project manager review against your requirements. For large-scale or compliance-critical projects, AI-assisted QA provides an additional systematic pass across the full content set.

About the Ukrainian language and market

Ukraine is the second-largest country in Europe by area, with a population of approximately 37 million. The country was granted EU candidate status in June 2022 and is actively pursuing accession, with the screening process completed in September 2025. Ukraine uses its own currency, the Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH). The EU is Ukraine's largest trading partner, accounting for approximately 60% of exports. Key export sectors include agriculture — Ukraine is one of the world's largest exporters of grain and sunflower oil — IT services, metallurgy and chemicals. The IT sector is one of the largest in Europe, and IT services represent one of the country's most significant export categories. Ukraine's language legislation, strengthened in recent years, requires Ukrainian in public-facing business communication, product labelling, advertising and services — making Ukrainian-language content a legal requirement for companies operating in the market.

Ukrainian — українська мова (ukrainska mova) — is an East Slavic language and the sole official language of Ukraine. It is spoken by approximately 32 million people as a first language, with a further 7 million speaking it as a second language — a total of approximately 39 million speakers. Ukrainian is the second most widely spoken Slavic language after Russian. Significant Ukrainian-speaking communities exist in Poland, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, the United States, Canada and Brazil, both from historical emigration and from displacement since 2022. Ukrainian is recognized as a minority language in numerous European countries, including Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Moldova.

A short note on the language itself

Ukrainian is written in a 33-letter Cyrillic alphabet that differs from Russian Cyrillic in several respects — Ukrainian has letters that Russian lacks (ґ, є, і, ї) and does not use several letters that Russian does (ъ, ы, э). The two alphabets are not interchangeable, and Ukrainian text rendered in Russian Cyrillic is immediately incorrect. Ukrainian's closest linguistic relative is Belarusian — not Russian, as is commonly assumed. While Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian all descend from Old East Slavic, Ukrainian developed significant differences in phonology, grammar and vocabulary over the centuries, including substantial lexical influence from Polish. Ukrainian has seven noun cases (one more than Russian), a vocative case used in direct address, and a verb system that distinguishes perfective and imperfective aspect. For translation buyers, the practical point is clear: Ukrainian is an independent language with its own grammar, vocabulary and conventions, and content prepared in Russian is not a substitute for Ukrainian — commercially, legally or linguistically. Every Ukrainian translation project at Diskusija is assigned to a native Ukrainian translator.
