Introduction

Our cooperation with JUNG started by providing proofreading and stylistic improvement services in one language (Lithuanian) that made us familiar with the client’s preferences, style and terminology. As the client was satisfied with our partnership, a large project involving the translation of the JUNG website into several languages was entrusted to us. Other projects followed and a successful partnership began.

Challenges

Knowing the highly technical and modern nature of JUNG products and solutions, we needed to build appropriate teams of technical linguists with marketing creativity to make the texts attractive for the reader.

Consistency across all the files, of both existing and new terminology, was another challenge, since the client wanted to maintain the terms and style, but there were no glossaries or guidelines introduced.

Solution

The client made a significant contribution to the success of the project by providing previous translations and discussed terminology with us before starting translation of the new website.

A large part of preoperational work was to create a terminology database from past translations. The texts were also used to extract a translation memory, which consists of stored segments (sentences, paragraphs and other previously translated units). This helped us to ensure stylistic and terminological consistency with all the client’s material.

We also built teams of linguists with technical and marketing skills, who have since become dedicated JUNG teams that are very familiar with the client’s products.

We are in close contact with JUNG’s local marketing and product managers in target countries and all our translations are revised by them. This helps to ensure the best versions of terminology and style, reflecting the client’s needs.

Results

Professional and promotionally attractive translations for Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian markets of highly technical JUNG products, solutions and systems. Terminological consistency across the all client’s materials. Expanded and continuous partnership with JUNG.
